Hey, I’m from Czech Republic. It is situated approximately in the center of Europe and has an area of 78,866 Km2. If we compare it’s slightly smaller than South Carolina. It borders Poland, Germany, Austria and Slovakia, they’re my neighbour countries. Prague is the capital and it’s the largest city of the Czech Republic.
In 2001, the majority of the habitants in Czech Republic were Czech. Nowadays, there are more than 200.000 Romani people here. Since the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, Slovaks staying here consist of 3% of the population.
It has transformed from a land of emigration to one of transit and immigration in the last 15 years. The number of illegal immigrants is estimated at 300.000 to 340.000.
The Life expectancy at birth of total population is 76,81 years.
The official currency is the Czech crown (koruna). The approximate value of 100 CZK is 4 Euros.
Czech is a West Slavic language with about 12 million native speakers; it’s the main language spoken by Czechs. Many Czech-speaking people are in Austria, Poland, Ukraine, Croatia and in western Romania, but it’s also spoken outside Europe, particularly in the United States.
The President is Václav Klaus and the Prime Minister is Jan Fischer.
My country is active in providing help to children across the world (UNICEF), help for refugees (UNHCR), supports peace operations, the World Health Organization (WHO), world culture protection (UNESCO) and information regarding OSN activity (UNIC).
You will feel very comfortably here, in Czech Republic. It’s a developed country and whose standard of living is growing. We spend a great part of our money on food, culture and free time.
The unemployment is the lowest of the last 8 years at present. About 100 thousand people here have found a job during the last year, so the number so unemployed people have decreased to approximately 311 thousand.
The PIB is 175.309 millions of dollars, and IDH 0,903.
Pollution is really bad. Factory smoke darkens the sky. Air pollution and acid rain has killed and damaged many of the country’s trees and badly degraded its soil. Czech Republic recently became the first country to enact national legislation with provisioned aimed at eliminating light pollution.
