I’m in Saranda, in southern Albania. It is a small town located between High Mountain and the Ionian Sea.Sarandë or Saranda (from Greek: Άγιοι Σαράντα, Agioi Saranda) is the capital of the District of Sarandë, Albania, and is one of the most important tourist attractions of the Albanian Riviera. It is situated on an open sea gulf of the Ionian Sea in the Mediterranean, 2 nautical miles from the Greek island of Corfu. The city of Saranda has a population of about 32,000 inhabitants (2008 estimate). Near Sarandë are the remains of the ancient city of Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
We speak Albanian and Italian because it is only a few kilometers away.
Saranda has escaped many of the hardships experienced by the northern parts of the country, and is free of the pollution that plagues the rest of the country's coastline.
The sea panorama it's striking!
There are beautifuland clear water beaches in Ksamil, Manastir and Sarand.
There are a variety of flora, and the soft climate, make Saranda an important tourist town. In Saranda, there are a lot of Greeks, Spanish people, French people to, and a lot of couples that come here to spend their honeymoon.
Near Saranda there is an island, Corfu, you can go there by ferry, my mother is now there with her friend.
Now in Saranda there’s a project that want to support the transformation of Saranda’s down town into a dedicated ferryboat to facilitate the access of passengers and vehicles to Albania’s valued southern coastal zone, it’s a good idea.
