Hi! I’m from Dubrovnik,a Croatian city on the Adriatic Sea, which is how we call the Mediterranean, It has a population of 50.000 on 21.35 km2.Th eclimate is the typical Mediterranean one,very temperate.
We speak Croatian but we can also speak many other languages being Italian and English the main ones.
My city has walls and fortifications due to the importance of the city during Medieval times. It’s is one of the most attractive and famous cities of this sea! The old town of Dubrovnik was declared World Heritage by UNESCO. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations on the Adriatic.
If you want to go for a walk you can go to a street called the "New Stradun", which connects all hotels,along with the shopping area. many restaurants and cafés.
If you want to have fun come to the annual Dubrovnik Summer Festival. It’s a cultural event when keys of the city are given to artists who entertain Dubrovnik's population and their guests for an entire month. The Dubrovnik Summer Festival has been awarded its first Gold International Trophy for Quality (2007).
Very famous is also Dubrovnik carnival festivities -called Dubrovnik "karnevo" .
Since 1421 Dubrovnik has had an important maritime trade with Asia and Africa and competed against Venice and Pisa for richness and agaist Florence for culture.
Dubrovnik has played an important role in History. A few years ago during the Balkan war we were attacked and the city became a little destroyed, but now, afer the war, it has been rebuilt.
We are twin city with Ravena, Italy; Vukovar, Croatia; Graz, Austria; Helsingborg, Sweden; Ragusa, Italy; Bad Homburg, Germany; Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; Monterey, California, United States.
Dubrovnik is also the city of high ecological standards and tourist programmes.
