Hi people! I'm David from Paphos.
Paphos is a Cyprus city situated on the south-est coast of the island. We have very beautiful beaches here like Alykes, Faros, Kissonerga Bay and Vrysoudia with cristal blue water.
For the Greeks our island was considerated the place of Aphrodite's birth. One of the most important Godess in the Greek mythology.Paphos is a city where myth and reality mingle and where you can see Roman villas, Byzantine churches and Crusader castles within a few minutes walk of the harbour.
The official language is Greek but we also speak English and Turkish.
Nowadays my city is included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage.
Paphos enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate. It practically never rains in the summer!, but especially in July and August the humidity is very high.
Paphos is an exciting city with nice people and the really best place to stay for a time. Our city is called "The city of mosaics" and we have a lot of culture from ancient populations like Greek, Rome, Turkey.
Kato Pafos (the harbour area) is not the best place to be with lots of bars, restaurants and discos. The town centre at Ktima just up the hill is much more elegant and there are sights worth seeing including the covered market, some museums and impressive Roman mosaics. To the south of Paphos isthe little village of Yeroskipou where loukoumi (Turkish delight) is made. You also have to see the ninth century frescoes in the Byzantine church of Ayia Paraskevi and the Baths of Aphrodite and the wild western coast.
If you really enjoy the ancient culture and beautiful beaches you must come here, Paphos the capital of the Mediterranean!!
