Lebanon Country Empty
PostSubject: Lebanon Country   Lebanon Country EmptySun Nov 01, 2009 10:13 pm

Hi I’m from LEBANON![/b]
It is a country in Western Asia, we are situated on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. My neighboring countries are Syria in the north and east, and Israel in the south. The total area of the country is 10,452 km2 . The capital city is Beirut, situated on the coastline with the Mediterranean Sea. The population is approximately 4,224,000 persons. We use the Lebanese Pound. We have two official languages which are Arabic and French, also there are other spoken languages for example, English and Armenian. It’s a parliamentary republic, and we have a President who is Michel Suleiman and a Prime Minister who is Fouad Siniora. There are many international organizations in Lebanon, for example:
-World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
-World Health Organization (WHO)
-Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)
-United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
-International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
With regards to the population, there is an additional million foreign workers and about 400,000 Palestinian refugees. The total population of Lebanese people is estimated in 18 million of these 15 million are outside of Lebanon.Lebanon is also very concerned about the war in Palestine, this is why so many people are away. It is a great problem but we hope the two involved countries will find a solution soon. Lebanon life expectancy is 73 years. Quality of life in Lebanon is described with a final score of 58. Unemployment in Lebanon is about the 9.20 % . In the ranking of IDH Lebanon is at the 78th place. The PIB of the country is 5,300$.Pollution in general is a major issue in Lebanon. There are many different forms of pollution affecting the people, which are clouding the atmosphere and greatly harming everyone's health, the Lebanese are not so familiar with soil and water pollution. The enormous usage of cars should also be reduced through the use of buses and car-pooling, or riding bikes. Some measures have been taken to recycle some products such as glass, paper, and cardboard, but it is still not enough. In conclusion, extreme measures must be taken as soon as possible in order to make every Lebanese citizen aware of the crucial dangerous condition of one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
